Jong Sung (John) Koh, Ph.D.

Jong Sung Koh joined Genosco in December 2008 as the chief technology officer. Dr. Koh has over 20 years of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry experience, during which his works have led to identifying a number of drug candidates currently in human clinical trials for the treatment of cancer and diabetes. From March 2002 to March 2007, he served as the vice president and as a member of the executive management team of LG Life Sciences. From December 1991 to March 2002, he initiated drug discovery platforms at LG Life Sciences, such as peptidomimetics, combinatorial chemistry, structure based design, and high throughput screening. Other accomplishments during his career at LG Life Sciences include numerous drug discovery programs including HIV protease inhibitors, farnesyl tranferase inhibitors, kinase inhibitors, and DPPIV inhibitors. Furthermore, Dr. Koh is the principle inventor of Gemigliptin, which is currently in Phase III of clinical trial for Diabetes. Dr. Koh received his BS in chemistry, MS in photochemistry and Ph.D in bio-organic chemistry from Seoul National University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and California Institute of Technology respectively. His other achievements include a senior research associate position at The Scripps Research Institute, a visiting scientist at UC Berkley as well as the head of the anti-cancer research center at the Korea Research Institute of Chemistry and Technology (KRICT).
