Description
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is plasma containing concentrated platelets. As usually known, platelets contain growth factors such as PDGF(platelet-derived growth factor) and TGF-¥â(transforming growth factor-¥â). In the case of dental or orthopaedic operation using bone grafts material, when PRP is added to bone grafts (BBPTM) as gel, the new bone regeneration occurs much faster than by using bone grafts only.
PDGF is around 30,000MW of molecular size. It is secreted from the alpha granules of the platelets or from the macrophages. Its cell membrane receptors are found in the osteoblasts, fibroblasts, and endothelia, and it acts in division of the mesenchymal cells, proliferation and differentiation of the osteoblasts, and angiogenesis.
TGF-¥â is around 25,000MW of molecular size. It is secreted from the osteoblasts and platelets, and acts in early phase of osteoblast growth.
These growth factors play a role of angiogenesis, stimulation of chemotaxis and mitosis of cells, proliferation of stem cells, cohesion between bone fragments, and enhancement of osteoconduction through fibrin network, thus promoting early regeneration of bone in the repair process of bone graft.
PLACONTM is a specially designed centrifuge to concentrate platelets from patient¡¯s blood.
¡¡
Advantages of PLACONTM
In 2 steps within 8 minutes, the operator can get 1cc of PRP from 10cc of the patient¡¯s blood.
Two preset buttons enable the operator to concentrate platelets as simple as possible, so she or he may not waste time setting the centrifugal force or centrifugal time.
¡¡
> Thru step 1 with 2000G for 3 minutes, PLACONTM separates the upper layer of plasma and buffy coat from the lower layer of RBC's.
¡¡
> Thru step 2 with 5000G for 5 minutes, PLACONTM separates the upper layer of plasma from the lower layer of platelets.
PLACONTM generates powerful centrifugal force by adopting angle rotor.
Even though PLACONTM has a high centrifugal force, the size is much smaller than the current centrifuge, so it can be used easily in an outpatient setting.
Noise was almost completely eliminated.
